Katie Thompson's Children's Liturgy book is an excellent resource for any Children's Liturgy Group. Its format for each sunday will help the new liturgist and the photocopiable pictures/artwork will give ideas to the more experienced leader. We have found it a real asset in our Children's Liturgy group for the 2-7year olds.

My parish own this book but I've never once found it useful in preparing the children's liturgy. In my experience, any children's liturgy which relies heavily on this book will fail to include the under-fives. It's pretty uninspiring in general, but biggest problem is that the activities rely heavily on the written word. Few children under six are really fluent readers, so what's the point in that?I suppose it might be useful if you're doing stuff with older children, but surely the children's liturgy is something intended for little ones. The best idea in the book is that of using nursery rhyme tunes for simple songs and prayers - but you can probably make up your own.My advice is to read the scriptures for the Sunday in advance, think and pray about them and see what you come up with for yourself rather than relying on a formula from a book. You might surprise yourself, and deepen your own faith into the bargain. If you feel you need some support,'Living Waters' by Susan Sayers is a more useful source of ideas. It offers a range of activities, and also gives some thoughts and perspectives on the readings which may be helpful.

We run a liturgy class at our local church...and I bought this to given me ideas. I am not sure, but I think that this is the american the church has now bought the english version which has a yellow cover. My personal opinion is that this one is the better out of the two.
